You will find that Christ Presbyterian is made up of people of all
ages; people who participate in some or most all of the activities
depending on time available or interest. No matter what your
stage of life or circumstances, there is always something going on
each can connect with and a lot to satisfy the needs of all.
Several years ago
we became aware of a growing need to expand our Sunday School
facilities to adequately accommodate the growing number of children
and youth in our midst. Last year a bold decision in faith was
made to add a new education wing to better serve those who wish to
learn and grow in knowledge of His word. We're proud to offer
classes for each grade level, youth, and adults and even have a
nursery with a paid, professionally trained staff member. Not
all learning and growing is in the classroom, either. Many of
our youth, for example, have for several years now traveled to
Mexico in the summer for a week in a program where they physically
work to build adequate homes for those without a humane place to
live.
We know that the church is not a building -- it is the people who
worship and try their best to serve Him. We have about 100
members at present, and you will find we are very friendly and
family oriented. We love kids! Visitors are greeted with
a warm friendly smile and sincere welcome. We truly want all
to feel comfortable and at ease in worship or in anything else that
we do. It's a place where some like to wear ties or
dresses and some wear jeans, but all 'fit in.' It is a
"Home for your Heart" -- a shelter from the all too often
unfriendly world, a place where we tend to comfort and help each
other in time of sorrow or need, and a place where we rejoice at the
many blessings God has bestowed upon us.
You are invited to try us out by participating in some or all of
what we have to offer. We hope we can become a home for
YOUR heart!

Christ
Presbyterian Church was founded in January of 1969 after the Board
of Church Extension and the trustees of Cincinnati Presbytery
purchased six acres of land and a house at the corner of St. Rt. 131
and Pleasant View Dr. in the suburb of Day Heights, east of
Milford. Twenty interested people responded to newspaper articles
and gathered for the first meeting. At this meeting a steering
committee was formed to move forward in organizing a church. On
February 1, 1959 a fellowship dinner was held and two weeks later
the first service of worship was held. The church was named Christ
United Presbyterian church and was officially organized on April 12,
1959. The young congregation was led in worship by Rev. Stanley
Boughton, the then equivalent to General Presbyter of the
Presbytery. . In October of 1959, the first pastor, Rev. W.E.
Morris was called. One year later, ground was broken for the
present structure. The new building was dedicated on June 4, 1961.
In 1983, after
the reunification of the Presbyterian Church U.S. and the United
Presbyterian Church U.S.A., Christ United Presbyterian Church name
was changed to Christ Presbyterian Church.
In March of 2003,
the Rev.
Jean L. Holmes became pastor and she has helped to lead the
congregation into a much needed building expansion which included a
new education wing with new classrooms, nursery, adult meeting room
and a handicapped-accessible bathroom. Changes in the existing
structure included: new kitchen and fellowship area, music room,
church office, and remodeled bathrooms. Members were especially
pleased to acquire an air-conditioned sanctuary as part of the
church expansion.
